Project SPARTA (Smart PARking and Traffic Analysis), is a Smart Parking solution that reduces pollution and harmful exhaust emissions, helping motorists avoid unnecessary queues and wasted time searching for a free parking space.
SPARTA is an integrated platform with urban planning tools to encourage parking turnover and make the best use of parking areas. Unlike "Smart Parking" experiments, which merely analyze vehicular flow to reduce traffic, SPARTA offers a range of technical features that overcome the constraints of current systems. From Smart sensor networks in parking lots to locate available spaces, and measure air quality and vehicle flow to constantly updated digital panels that report parking availability conditions and other traffic info. The mathematical model on which SPARTA is based is multivariable and aims to dynamically price parking to incentivize turnover and saturate available spaces evenly. SPARTA relies on various Proximity Info Parking and Proximity Marketing tools (such as Gamification) and predictive and geo/spatial Data Mining analysis tools.
Thus, "smart parking" is not just a simple urban traffic management tool, but becomes an effective and systematic Smart Parking solution: a real support tool for local governments, simplifying the daily lives of citizens.
